Patricia MacKay managed a busy household and volunteered regularly with local charities. They finished high school and learned much of the craft through family and community mentors. They enjoyed fishing, birdwatching, and quiet weekends outdoors. They was one of several siblings and kept family traditions alive through regular gatherings.
